Office of Hearing Services to provide free and government-subsidised services for both pensioners and veterans who require hearing loss assessments and treatment, including access to top-quality hearing aids. Also included are complementary accessories for the television using headsets or Bluetooth for eligible clients.

How to Know If You’re Eligible

Australian citizens and permanent residents are eligible for the hearing scheme if they meet one of the following requirements:

• Hold a Pensioner Concession Card
• Receiving Sickness Allowance from Centrelink
• Hold a Gold or White Repatriation Health Card for hearing loss
• Membership in the Australian Defence Force
• Enrolment in the Disability Employment Services (DES)

approved for both baseline and full audiological tests. Anyone working in a

designated noisy area requires a baseline hearing test on commencing work. Hearing tests over the working life can notify us of any hearing loss. If this is the case a compensation scheme is in place. If there is a 10% hearing loss compared to the original baseline test from noise in the workplace you will be eligible for compensation.

Your employer is responsible for arranging and paying for all WorkCover hearing tests.

Our clinics specialise in offering comprehensive hearing tests in consultation with WorkCover. This range of tests includes:

• Baseline and subsequent air conduction testing
• Full audiological assessment
• Subsequent further audiological assessment as required

We ascertain the impact of hearing impairment on the client.

Testing can also be used to monitor the stability (degree) and impacts of an established hearing impairment, to determine whether an individual would benefit from further investigation or rehabilitation for hearing impairment and then to determine a pathway for auditory rehabilitation as required by the individual. We can then help you to access further management in all situations.

The basic hearing test for children is known as pure tone audiometry. Our professional audiologist uses an electrical machine which produces sounds at different volumes and pitches. These sounds are emitted into your child’s ear. We ask your child to raise their hand or push a button when the tone is heard. Using earphones we can assess which frequencies are being detected by your child. If our audiologist discovers your child has hearing loss other tests are conducted ,for example using a bone conduction oscillator to determine whether the hearing loss affects the outer, middle or inner ear. This testing is performed in a friendly and reassuring manner and is not threatening for children. It may even be fun!

The focus of the NDIS is to give you choice and control over your disability support. This is provided through individualised funding to assist you to achieve your goals. We can support you to access the NDIS and ensure you receive a suitable funding package for the level of support and services you need.
